Raewyn is tougher than your average mermaid princess. She lives in a fortress far beneath the surface of the ocean, where she constantly breaks the rules. Fear of extinction has caused the merfolk to arrange marriages and take away romantic freedoms, causing Raewyn’s hopes and dreams of true love to crumple. After a quest gone wrong, she finds herself held captive aboard the Devil’s Pearl, among the worst humans of all—pirates. Captain Aiden Flynn is handsome and charming, spending his time sailing the seas and hording treasure. His villainous reputation has even reached the depths of the ocean. When he finds a dark-haired beauty ensnared in his net, he puts on his best charms in hopes of finding out just who she is. Will his dangerous, yet charming, demeanor win her over? Or will he fall, as many other men have, to the wiles of a mermaid princess?

This book simply wasn't for me. Though I can see it might be much more appropriate for a YA reader. I just couldn't get into the characters at all. The main heroine fell into the unfortunate stereotype of the immature, infuriatingly stubborn, "rolls-her-eyes-every-other-page," spoiled rotten teenager who is determined to hate the hero and treat him like garbage simply because of the fact that he's a *gasp* pirate! Even though from the VERY first moment you meet said pirate, he behaves like a perfect, respectable gentleman towards her. She continues to insist he's so despicable, so terrible, such a scoundrel and a rogue and <insert dastardly name here> and this seems to justify her hatred towards him. And the author writes as if the reader should actually sympathize with her!

I can't stand it when a character can't see beyond their own miss-conceptions and prejudices. I can understand if this is the first impression she has, but this behavior goes on for FAR too long. I lost all patience, and I gave up partway through and couldn't finish this book. It just wasn't for me.

I liked the plot for the most part, but the dialogue was jarring and kept pushing me out of the story.
Really enjoyed this book! I am hoping for future books by Brooke Kennedy.
Loved it! Couldn't stop reading and I finished it in one day after 6 hours! )
I'm glad I found a book about meramids that was an adult/romance book then teenage one.
It was thrilling & captivating. I couldn't put it down until I had red the entire book. I can't wait for the rest of the series to come out so I can find out what happens next to the unlikely couple. Don't start to read this book if you don't have time to finish it.
I felt like there could have been more and brought more of the story and her background into play more. It was too focused on the couple which is fine except the rest felt lacking in comparison. The author is still amazing for their story is captivating
Amazing mermaid/pirate story! The adventure was never-ending and the romance was scorching. I can't wait to read more of these two!
The Mermaid's Pearl was a very sweet story about a brave mermaid princess and a pirate who was more than he appeared. I'm looking forward to the continuation of their adventures.
